The Microsoft Hololens is a game changer. Having freshly seen it in the last 24 hours, my mind is still fragile and breakable right now whenever I try to think about potential business application. So far, all I can see for it is unlimited potential. It’s hard for me to nail down any particular/peculiar thing that you would do with such a device. It seems right now that there’s not enough of them in the world to make any sort of difference as far as interactions go. However there will be. For me, the most interesting thing is the potential of such a technology. So what do I mean by potential? Well in its purest form AR can make the invisible visible. It is one of the most esoteric technologies that I’ve ever seen in my life.

I’ve always been a student of the esoteric and the occult and I love the idea of being able to see invisible things that are only meaningful and useful to the user. For example, if someone were to have name tags and they were on everyone you ever met,  even the name that you had forgotten from your contacts list, that would be so useful for sales or business or HR or managers anybody in any industry needs to know who they’re talking about and who they’re talking to so that’s probably one of the most simple and banned and creepy uses of the technology but it would be so useful and so obvious.

Another cool use would be to show electrical information or Plumbing information or networking information. A lot of my work that I do is with IP addresses and you’d like to think that you could show IP addresses over devices. You could see an array of IP addresses coming out in front of the server so that there’s no longer a reason to log in and pulling an IPConfig on the machine. Rather you could just look at it with your Hololens on and then interact with it directly from that, make the IP Address an actual button that you could log into with your Hololens using an SSL client you know that floating in the air. console right there that you talk to what is a problem I’ll tell you this

The input is a problem. the only keyboard is a built-in keyboard that you can use with your gaze and click which would not at all be fun. So the majority of what you’re doing is voice recognition.  The voice recognition is pretty good. You can write in voice recognition in your apps by defining the words it listens for from the Windows API.

Anyway program with the Microsoft hololens is only by addressing the result as conveniently included the hololens API so what this means for developers is there’s no SDK you have to get there’s no weird program you have to get you can immediately start addressing the device through the way I choose to address it yesterday was to a beta version of and some packages that Microsoft has released its projects origami which is where you had like a ball that falls down on the virtual table so I was pretty lame.

But I still have confusion I don’t know what I would do with this technology it’s mind-blowing to think of all the invisible things all the hidden things all the emotion all the fears all the toys all the pictures and memories and photographs and things that people would want to have with them hard for me to think how you could apply being able to do that I can’t I can’t imagine other than just to have a cool personal device allows you to create your create your environment dynamically.
